The Institute's thematic focus to date are oncological and infectiological topics. Within those fields, the involvement of patients and those affected in the process of knowledge generation is an additional area of interest. In addition, the institute is involved in methodological research of the areas it is working in. In the future, the focus will shift more heavily towards prevention and health promotion, and investigate issues relevant to population medicine.
